If there is an unpaid period in your work contract, which is based on the institution’s established period of operation, you may in certain situations receive daily allowance from this period. According to the Act on Unemployment Security this type of an unpaid period is called a period comparable to a layoff.
In situations comparable to a temporary layoff, you will be paid a full or adjusted daily allowance depending on whether you are in part-time or full-time employment. If you are not sure about your right to receive earnings-related allowance, we recommend you to send your application to us anyway. In this way we can decide your right to receive allowance.
Unpaid autumn holiday in your part-time work contract
You can apply allowance according to your normal applying period (month or four weeks). Your salary will be taken into account for the whole month and adjusting period in which your salary was paid. If you apply only from the period of your autumn holiday, your salary will however be taken into account for the whole month and adjusting period in which your salary was paid.
Submit a copy of your employment contract with your application. A current application for full-time employment at a TE Office is prerequisite for the payment of adjusted allowance.
Unpaid autumn holiday in your full-time work contract
You can only apply for allowance from the unpaid period, because in full-time work you are only entitled to daily allowance for the period comparable to a temporary layoff. Submit a copy of your employment contract with your application. Make sure that your jobseeker stauts is kept active at the TE Office.
