Many temporary changes were made to unemployment security in
2020. Some of these changes will expire end of this year. As a result, starting
from 1.1.2021:

We can no longer pay for the five days self-liability
period, if the self-liability period starts on 1.1.2021 or later.
- Earnings-related allowance can be granted after six
months work (26 calendar weeks), instead of 13 weeks. If earnings-related
allowance is granted on 31 of December at the latest, a shorter employment condition can be used.
- Maximum number of earnings-related allowance
days (300-500 days) will be counted .
- Entrepreneurship will be investigated in the TE
Office, if you are temporarily laid-off. However, studies will not be investigated in
the TE Office, if you are temporarily laid-off. this is valid until the end of
2021.
- Right to unemployment security can be decline in
the following cases: job seeker has not made a employment plan in the TE
Office’s online service or job seeker has dropped out from a service.
- Short-time studies can not be extended beyond 6
months. If these studies are full-time studies.
- Independent studies is no longer given extra
time, if the studies have been delayed due to coronavirus. The progress of
studies is monitored in the normal way.
The following exceptions from the TE-office, are still valid
until the end of January:
- TE Office’s interviews is reduced or canceled on
January.
- Right to unemployment security can remain, even
if the applicant has not implemented employment plan.
