Studies that take up to six months may be completed under unemployment allowance, provided that the unemployed person is at least 25 years old and the studies improve vocational skills or support self-employment. If the same studies have been attended in the past, a minimum of one year must usually have passed since their ending.

During short-term studies, unemployed persons are still required to apply for and accept work and participate in employment promotion measures as required by the TE Office. Unlike with independent studies included in TE services, short-term studies do not entitle to an increased allowance. The TE Office will evaluate whether the conditions are met that short-term studies may be begun under unemployment allowance. For more information on studies, contact your local TE Office.
